Teaching No More

After three years of teaching, I decided it was time to take a break from school.

Here are a few of the things I'm going to miss:
1. Working with children each day
2. Watching them learn and grow- seeing a concept "click" for them
3. The look on their face when they are amazed at what they are learning
4. Hearing my students tell me how much they love school!
5. Getting a hug from my students as they come in each morning and as they walk out the door at the end of each day
6. Listening to them tell me they want to stay in my classroom forever!

Here are a few of the things I'm not going to miss:
1. All the germs that come from a classroom full of 20 kids, even after all the baby wipes, hand sanitizer, and soap
2. Hearing the bell ring at 2:45, but knowing that your work is not done
3. Grading endless papers even after you've gone home for the day
4. Being totally exhausted at the end of each day
5. EOG Testing and Benchmark Testing
6. Not getting paid for all of the overtime put in

Lauren, Congrats on deciding! I know it must have been hard, but you deserve a break! Being a good teacher takes so much time and energy.. I hope you get to re-charge and enjoy your time off! Miss you!

What an exciting decision. I think I told you I'm not teaching anymore either. I kept thinking I would get sad, but I'm not yet! I will miss the kiddos, though. I hope you have a nice break and spend lots of extra time taking care of that sweet hubby of yours!

Wow, big change for you! What will you do without 5 million papers to grade every night?? Today was my first day back (without kids) and I already feel tired! I hope you and Adam are enjoying lots of quality time together!

LAUREN!!! Its really nice to always keep in contact through the blogs. So what made you decide to not teach anymore? So now what are you up too? I imagine its great having your hubby there with you after so long. Does he have to go back any time soon? Well I'm glad that everything is going well with you two.

Hey Lauren, I understand what you mean about taking a break from teaching. Are you getting into something else, or just taking a year off? Good luck with everything!
