Operation Ward 57

Lauren and I received special new t-shirts in the mail this past week honoring Walter Reed's Ward 57. Ward 57 is the amputee ward at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington DC. The shirts cause us to pause and reflect on the real heroes of this ongoing war on terrorism. We often hear of the death totals in the news, but rarely of these brave men and women whose lives will never be the same. We have been fortunate enough to meet and know several of these individuals through work and school. Their stories are tragic, but their courage and determination to recover and in some cases return to the fight are a source of great inspiration for us. We pray we live worthy of their sacrifices as well as those who have given their lives in order to protect our own.
